LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Several early learning centers across the state of Nevada are set to receive more than $5 million in scholarships to help families in need.
The United Way of Southern Nevada and the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra selected 32 centers to receive $5,828,130 to help the enrollment process by allowing selected children to attend preschool for free.
“We’ve seen the positive impact this program has had on the lives of thousands of working families and educators who are equipped with the resources to support their students,” said Julian High, President and CEO of UWSN. “We are humbled by the confidence that the Nevada Department of Education places in our institution because of this program.”
Scholarships have been issued through participating centers to needy families with children as young as four years old. All centers participate in the Quality Rating Improvement Systems (QRIS) established by the Nevada Department of Education.
