Surprising participation by KSAT 12 meteorologist Mia Montgomery

KSAT 12 meteorologist Mia Montgomery has a lot to celebrate this holiday season, including her engagement to her high school sweetheart, Dalton. Before the newly engaged couple headed down the aisle, let’s take a look at what has been proposing related to family affairs.

It started like any other day on November 12th. Montgomery says the initial idea was to celebrate her mother and sister’s birthdays with dinner at The Pearl. I told MySA Dalton wasn’t coming because he was supposedly stalking his father and uncle, but something didn’t add up.

“All day I could tell something was off, but looking back, I didn’t know how I didn’t catch all the signs,” Montgomery explained.

As Montgomery and her family are walking across the bridge right next to the hotel, she notices something on the other side.

She said, “I saw these big lit signs that said, Marry Me.”
Dalton, in fact, was not hunting. Instead, plan an elaborate proposal with friends and family nearby.
“As a little girl, you always dream about what that day might look like,” Montgomery said of the proposal. “This took her completely out of the water. It was more than I could have ever imagined.”

Montgomery says that after Dalton popped the question, he arranged a surprise party afterward with all their friends, family, aunts and uncles.
“I cried all day,” laughs Montgomery. “I was so in shock that he thought it through and arranged for all of our favorite people to be there.”
The San Antonio meteorologist also credits the KSAT TV family for being “involved” in the proposal. Montgomery told MySA that fellow forecaster Sarah Spivey offered to take that weekend’s shift.
“Dalton had previously contacted Sarah, and they’ve arranged for me to leave this weekend,” Montgomery explained. “They covered for me just to make it happen.”

The couple’s love story goes back to middle school where they first met in Floresville. It wasn’t until their freshman year of high school that they felt a more romantic connection and started dating.
“It’s amazing not only to find your partner in life, but to find the best friend you’ve ever had inside that partner, and for the past eight years, that’s been me,” Montgomery said.

They went on to attend Texas A&M University together and graduated together.

Montgomery and Dalton haven’t set a wedding date yet but they do have a few places around the area that they love. Ideally, Montgomery says they would like to have a winter wedding.
