A Galaxy S23 satellite connection is said to be coming

Samsung is only a few months away from the Galaxy S23 series, and there are rumors that the company’s next generation will take note of the iPhone 14’s satellite connection, in addition to upgrading the fingerprint sensor.

In the latest iPhone 14 series, Apple has introduced support for satellite connection. The feature launched for users this month and allows access to worldwide satellites in emergency situations when cellular networks are unavailable or unreliable.

electricity Reports indicate that Samsung is also looking to include satellite connectivity in the Galaxy S23.

Apparently, Samsung will be working on this feature through a partner, Iridium. The company was first reported to be in a development deal with smartphone makers earlier this year for 66 low-orbit communications satellites.

Apple’s satellite connection is operated through Globalstar and the two companies have a near-exclusive deal.

Samsung appears to want to use satellite connectivity in the Galaxy S23 series for more than Apple’s own emergencies, despite “aiming to transmit data such as text messages and low-capacity photos at hundreds of kilobits per second.” This is said to be possible due to overcoming the technical limitations of including an antenna that can handle these connections.

Huawei was the first to include satellite connectivity on an Android phone, but it’s clear that Samsung’s efforts will be there for many considering Huawei’s continued situation.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is also rumored to use a new fingerprint sensor. @RGCloudS on Twitter Claims Samsung will adopt Qualcomm’s latest 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is the third generation of the product. It’s unclear what improvements this will bring to the table, but presumably we’ll see better speed and accuracy. This version may also rely on a larger erasable area than the sparsely used 3D Sonic Max sensor.

The Galaxy S23 series is expected to arrive in February next year, with Android 13 sporting new Ultra-style camera sensors, a design mostly familiar across the whole family, as well as using less Exynos chips with more Snapdragon chips instead.
