AMD ROCm software update confirms Navi 32 GPU has 60 compute units

AMD ‘confirms’ Navi 32 with 60 compute units, Navi 33 has 32

Rumors from Angstronomics about a possible low Navi 32 GPU core count have now been indirectly confirmed by AMD.

The site claimed that the Navi 32 GPU has 30 working group processors instead of the previous 32. This means that the number of CU (Unit of Computation) is not 64 but 60. This exact number is now mentioned by the AMD developers of the ROCm software in a file called “performance.hpp” posted two days ago.

Moreover, the same core points to a Navi 33 GPU with a CU count of 32, which also matches the previous rumors. Given what we already know about the structure of RDNA3, that means it’s complete Navi 32 GPU Offers 3840 stream processors during Navi 33 she has 2048 Straight.

Not much has changed since the August leaks, the rumored specs, especially from Angstronomics were pretty accurate. The only change we had to make to our spec chart is a higher memory speed (from 18Gbps to 20Gbps) and PCIe Gen4 support instead of Gen5.

The bigger question is where Navi 32 and 33 will actually land in terms of Radeon SKUs. The Radeon RX 7900 series desktops seem to be based exclusively on the Navi 31 GPU, while the Navi 32 may very well launch as Radeon RX 7800 desktop GPUs and possibly as a laptop RX 7900M GPU.

Therefore, AMD is expected to talk more about the Navi 32 GPU at CES 2023 in January. At the event, it is very likely that the company will unveil the Radeon RX 7000M series along with the new Ryzen 7000 laptop.
