Check Point launches CyberUp: the first accelerator center in Israel for startups in the field of cybersecurity

The CyberUp Acceleration Program will support startups in the cybersecurity space by opening market opportunities and developing the local cybersecurity ecosystem.

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. In addition to guiding successful participants through critical growth stages, CyberUp will in turn give Check Point customers access to the latest Israeli innovations.

Unlike other startup programs, CyberUp only focuses on the cyber security sector. Candidates are carefully selected, screened and only selected if they have a mature and deployable solution that is of value to existing Check Point customers. The first batch has already been launched, with seven early growth stage companies selected to participate. These are Cyberpion, Grip Security, Infinipoint, Reflectiz, Sentra, Suridata, and Zero Networks.

CyberUp is the brainchild of Noah Zilberman, which joined Check Point from Odo Security, a cybersecurity startup I co-founded. CyberUp is a 16-week program where startups gain exposure to the global cybersecurity market with client introductions and insights from leading CISOs, all guided by an expert advisory board for clients. One of the innovative elements of the program are the bi-weekly in-person briefings at Check Point’s Innovation Center. This provides a space where participants can meet and discuss ideas with client delegations and explore future collaborations. There will also be a series of “Intimate CISO Talks”, where startups can actively communicate with customers about the main challenges they are facing. “This active interaction with real customers and experts in the space sets CyberUp apart from other programs that simply rely on mentoring and lectures,” Zilberman added.

In addition to CISO talks and in-person sessions, participants can also participate in joint marketing initiatives with Check Point on the CyberTalk website and within the CheckMates user community, which will allow them to be exposed to thousands of clients worldwide. At the end of the program, participants will be invited to the United States for in-person meetings with chief information security managers and heads of international investors, as well as participation in events such as RSA, Black Hat, and Check Point’s CPX conference.

In addition to helping established organizations, Check Point also gives something back to the community by supporting early-stage startups under development of ecosystems part of the program. This includes quarterly e-breakfasts attended by entrepreneurial CISOs and VCs, a biannual innovation event where startups can apply and interact with experts as well as one-on-one meeting opportunities.
