Matt Sheppard drives a super late model for Big Frog motorsports at upcoming events

The New York Racer is scheduled to make its debut at All-Tech Raceway on December 2-3

OCALA, FL. (11/23/22) – Big Frog Motorsports is proud to announce that nine-time Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Championship winner, Matt Shepard will drive the No. 58 M&W Transport Dave’s Towing/Schaeffer’s Oil/XR1 Rocket Chassis/Clements Racing Team Engine Super Late Model during upcoming XR Super Series events at All-Tech Raceway.

“I’ve been watching Matt (Sheppard) race for a long time, and I’ve always had a lot of respect not only for his talent on the track but also for the way he takes care of his equipment. I recently spoke to Brian Daugherty (mutual friend of Matt Sheppard) of Integra and asked him if He thought Matt might have any interest in driving our car.” We got in touch with Matt and I, and from there that deal went through,” said Big Frog Motorsports owner Augie Bertram. “Matt will be here early next week, we’ll do some testing and then get ready for the two big All-Tech (race track) shows.”

For Sheppard, it gives him the chance to race a Super Late model for the first time in over a decade.

“Back in about 2009 I did late model races with World of Outlaws at Brewerton (Speedway), but I guess that was the last time I was there. Well, it was a long time ago because my schedule didn’t allow for it, and I didn’t really get the chance. “It’s very exciting to get this opportunity to get my feet wet again in late-model racing,” Sheppard noted. “Getting down there and testing early next week will give me a chance to get used to the car. I won the Big Block Modified event at All-Tech Raceway earlier this year, but this is clearly going to be a different kind of animal.”

Not only do Big Frog Motorsports and Sheppard plan to join the season-ending XR Super Series at All-Tech Raceway, but they’re also looking forward to Speedweeks 2023.

“We’re obviously focused on the upcoming weekend at All-Tech Raceway right now, but we’re also working on putting some things together for Matt to drive us through the Georgia/Florida Speedweeks in January and February,” said Burttram. “He’s raced pretty much all the tracks here except East Bay (Raceway Park), so he has knowledge of those places. Once again, our team is excited to see what we can achieve together.”

Sheppard, who captured his third Super DIRT Week Big Block Modified title last month, reiterated Bertram’s views on what the future could hold.

“Hopefully next weekend everything goes well and we can use what we’ve learned to build on the 2023 Speedweeks program. It’s always been my dream to run a late model during every January and February race there. I’ve been to many of those tracks before in the Big Block ( rate), and I think it would be really cool to be back out there in a late model.”

The XR Super Series Sunshine State 50 weekend of December 2-3 at All-Tech Raceway (Ellisville, FL) features a $20,000 to win Friday night and $40,000 to win finish on Saturday.
