The NXP Foundation commits $250,000 to advance engineering education in the Austin Community College District

AUSTIN, TX, Nov. 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The NXP Foundation, a nonprofit organization associated with NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI), today announced a $250,000 donation to the Austin Community College District (ACC) Foundation to support an engineering technology program School advanced manufacturing. NXP Foundation representatives present a check to the ACC Board of Trustees at a reception on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

The donation, which includes scholarship funds and will also enable the establishment of the NXP Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory, demonstrates NXP’s continued commitment to promoting and improving science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in the local Austin community. The NXP Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory will be co-located with the ACC High School Advanced Manufacturing IMPACT Academy at ACC Highland, where students can work toward college credits while in high school. In addition, beginning in the 2023-24 academic year, the NXP Scholarship Program will begin offering targeted awards to candidates from the Academy of Advanced Manufacturing.

The training tools offered in the NXP Advanced Manufacturing Lab will help support and expand educational curricula and resources for both high school students and adults entering the semiconductor industry and other advanced manufacturing professions. Tools and support will cover education in components of Industry 4.0, full factory automation, blueprint reading, and navigating feedback control systems.
